Quezon City Circle
Historical Site Background
The site was originally intended as the grounds of the National Capitol to be built in Quezon City to house the Congress of the Philippines. The location was also part of a larger National Government Center located around Elliptical Road and the Quezon City Quadrangle (made up of the North, South, East, and West Triangles). The NGC was meant to house the three branches of the Philippine government (legislative, executive, and judicial). While the cornerstone for the structure was laid on November 15, 1940, only the foundations were in place when construction was interrupted by the beginning of the Second World War in the Philippines. After World War II, President Sergio Osmeña issued an executive order stipulating the creation of a Quezon Memorial Committee to raise funds by public subscription to erect a memorial to his predecessor, President Manuel L. Quezon. After a national contest was held for the purpose of designing the Quezon Memorial Project, a winning entry by Filipino architect Federico S. Ilustre was selected. Aside from the monument itself, a complex of three buildings, including a presidential library, a museum, and a theater, were also planned to be erected.
Quezon City Hall
Historical Site Background
The past of Quezon City is rich in historical value. It was the original cradle of the Philippine Revolution in 1896. Teodoro Agoncillo, historian, recorded in his book The Revolt of the Masses, that it was in Balintawak that Andres Bonifacio and the other Katipunan leaders first gathered after the society was discovered by the Spaniards. They gathered first on August 19 in Balintawak, stayed there for one night and one day. “In the afternoon of August 21,”, the rebels, numbering around 500, left Balintawak and proceeded to the neighboring hamlet of Kangkong where Apolonio Samson, a Katipunan man, gave them food and lodging”, writes Agoncillo. Here, the next morning, the revolutionists, exchanged views on the revolution but did not pass any resolution. It was in Pugadlawin, where they proceeded upon leaving Samson’s place in the afternoon of the 22nd, that the more than 1,000 members of the Katipunan met in the yard of Juan A. Ramos, son of Melchora Aquino, the famed “Mother” of the Katipuneros, in the morning of August 23rd. Considerable discussion arose whether the revolt against the Spanish government should be started on the 29th.
“Only one man protested against the plan of revolt, and it was Bonifacio’s brother in law, Teodoro Plata. But he was overruled… Bonifacio then announced the decision and, standing on an improvised platform, shouted: “Brothers, it was agreed to continue with the plan of revolt. “My brothers, do you swear to repudiate the government that oppresses us? And the rebels, shouting as one man, replied: “Yes, sir!” “That being the case, Bonifacio added, “Brings out your cedulas and tear them to pieces to symbolize our determination to take up arms!” There with the rustle of papers and in a minute the yard was littered with torn cedulas. Amidst this ceremony, the rebels, with tear-stained eyes, shouted: “Long live the Philippines! Long live Katipunan!” Among those present were Briccio Brigido Pantas, Francisco and Nicomedes Carreon, patricio Belen, Alejandro Santiago, Ramon Bernardo, Apolonio Samson, Enrique Pacheco, Guillermo Masangkay, Sinforoso San Pedro, Cipriano and Alfonso Pacheco.

As my experience at first in the Quezon City Circle i actually did not notice that there was a war in the past time in this place. Because it is a beautiful place to relax your self and friends there are a lots of thing that you can do. Like bike riding, jogging, dancing like zumba, and even zip line. Actually you can enjoy yourself and also with your friends, families and co workers. This place is good for the people that have a stressful minds. In this place you can focus your minds to enjoy and have a happy bonding with you love ones. And the another thing that i can react in this historical site is the improvement of the place the nature around it. The place promote mother nature.
Selfie inside the Quezon Memorial Shrine Museum
While doing my activity i feel like i can see the presence of the past people because of the historical items that i saw in the Quezon Memorial Shrine Museum i feel the love and integrity of the past people for their country. In this picture i saw the stain of the past decades of our national flag.
I actually notice that when i went inside of the museum my behaviour becomes weird of being silent with full of respect. I feel the presence of our Manuel L, Quezon. I've also learned that all of our national hero die for filipino dignity dying for loving our own country. As a students i need to respect my country how significant it to me because being proud to be a filipino is just like being a hero not a real hero that sacrifice life it is the hero of having a self confident being a filipino and a christian we need to respect our national hero we need to remember the credits that they did for our lovely country.
